    The school celebrated its 20th anniversary on Friday 24th September 2021.

    A virtual celebration took place on Sunday 26th September 2021 to mark this occasion at 09:00EST, 14:00 BST, 18:30 IST, 21:00 HKT.

  • Happy Winter Holiday

    Message from Mingur Angmo, acting principal, to the students

    “As we break for a long winter holiday, we want to express our gratitude to each one of you for your kind and warm support. Our school is off for a winter break which will start from 13th December, 2020. The motive of this year winter break is to spend a quality time with your family and to get away from mobile phones, by keeping all in our mind we tried to assign such homework which doesn’t need any help of mobile phones. So it’s our humble request to each student to kindly stay away from mobile phones at least during this winter break. Wishing you all a Happy Winter Holiday. May you all have a good time with your families.”

    The first alumni meet of Druk Padma Karpo School was held in October 2020. Owing to the pandemic restrictions only 70-80 students were able to attend. It was short programme which included the sharing of experiences by our ex-students, felicitation to all new committee members and a talk by His Eminence Thuksey Rinpoche. The event finished with a very welcome high-tea during which heartfelt thanks were extended to His Eminence and the core team for making the event possible.

  • DPKS celebrates Kargil Vijay Diwas (Victory Day)..

    DPKS celebrates Kargil Vijay Diwas (Victory Day)..

     

    This day is celebrated every year on 26th July in honour of the Kargil War Heroes’. Kargil Vijay Diwas named after the successful (Operation Vijay). On this date in 1999, India successfully took command of the high outposts which has been lost to Pakistan. Kargil war was fought for more than two months and ended on 26th July, with India regaining control of all the previously held territory thus marking it as a Kargil Vijay Diwas. This special day is also celebrated at our school with great zeal and enthusiasm in presence of very special guest Subedar Major Honorary Captain Mr. Tashi Tsephel a retire Indian soldier (Ladakh Scout) and a recipient of Vir Chakra ( Vir chakra is an Indian gallantry award presented for acts of gallantry in presence of the enemy on the battlefield), NCC Cadets and few teachers . We are fortunate and honoured to have Subedar Major Honorary Captain Mr. Tashi Tsephel with us on this victory day and he shared his lively experience during Kargil War with us. His experience was inspiring and heart-warming. He is one of the live examples of bravery, courage, patience, persistence and patriotism. We also had poster cum slogan writing competition in which Padma Lamo of 9th standard bagged 1st position followed by a short documentary at school.
    We salute to such brave war heroes of our country.

    Delighted to share another pride moment for all recently on 11th July, Ladakh Science Foundation- organize a science competition on ‘BEST FROM WASTE’ in which our student name Stanzin Idga bagged 3rd position. Congratulations on your achievement, you have made us all proud.
     
    Idga shared her experience “From the very beginning I love art and craft, and recently I started taking interest in converting waste materials like bottles, papers, clothes etc, into nice art and craft or fine products. We are taught art and craft in our school and some of them I learnt from internet. I would like to thanks Ladakh Science Foundation for organizing such a wonderful event. I really enjoyed the whole journey of converting waste material into a fine art piece. This also helps us in reducing waste and to keep our surrounding clean and healthy.”

    DPKS celebrates World Yoga Day

    On the 21st June The students celebrated the 6th International Yoga Day. This day is celebrated to raise awareness worldwide about the benefits and importance of Yoga in everyday life. The theme for this year is “Yoga for Health –Yoga at Home”. So, by keeping this theme in mind the students of DPKS practiced at home. The students do regular Yoga, as they know the benefits of Yoga, so now it has become a part of their daily lives. “Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self and to the self”.

    CELEBRATING LADAKH DAY…

    Druk Padma Karpo School celebrated “Ladakh Day” on 1st May, 2020. The main purpose of celebrating this day is to let students aware and know the value and importance of rich Ladakhi culture, dress, cuisine etc. Ladakh has rich tradition, culture, dress, food. Being culturally aware is a great way to promote inclusion. Our students shared some wonderful photos celebrating the “Ladakh Day” at their respective homes. They feel very proud and excited to celebrate this day. The more they aware of their culture, more they will show respect and take pride of their roots. Teachers also actively participated in this event and make the day a great success.

    Teachers always spread light of wisdom and knowledge, thanks to all the teachers of DPKS for creating a great online learning environment. DPKS thanks parents for encouraging and supporting their kids and most importantly students who are doing their best and learning new things everyday and having fun during this lock down period. Our main motive behind this online class is for the kids to feel connected and joyful with their studies, so seeing kids reading, developing and learning new things makes us feel happy and satisfactory. Despite this challenging period you all stood firm and help in making an online class successful. We would like to thank each one of you. You all deserve a big thank you for making and using this lockdown period in a productive manner.
